Vitamin K regulates blood clotting. In addition, vitamin K helps to circulate calcium throughout the body, which is essential for regulating blood clotting. This vitamin helps in improving the blood disorder called myelodysplastic syndrome.

Vitamin K helps improve bone health and reduce the risk of bone fractures. Our body uses calcium to make bones and the body needs vitamin K to transport calcium to the bones.

Disadvantages of Vitamin K Deficiency

Vitamin K deficiency can cause bleeding problems like menstruation, bleeding gums and nose etc. Eye problems can also occur.

Vitamin K deficiency causes hardening of the blood vessels.

Bones become weak due to deficiency of vitamin K.

Right Amount of Vitamin K

People over the age of 14 should take closer to 3.6 grams (120 UG) of vitamin E according to the Recommended Dietary Allowance (RDA). Women who are breastfeeding may need more, so such women can take up to 2.7 grams (90 UG). The upper limit for protection is 2.7 grams (90 UG).
